Design your SSR Number
If you boat is less than 24m long (79 feet), you will need to apply to the Small Ships Register (www.direct.gov.uk and search for SSR).
Once you have registered your boat, you will need to put the SSR Number on her. The requirement is.. “Each digit of the number should be a minimum of 30mm in height and 20mm in width, except for the number 1, which should be 5mm in width and have a thickness of 5mm with a space of 5mm between each digit.”
Luckly Enough, we know all this and we made it easy to order your SSR Number online, to comply with regulations. Do remember though, that your lettering needs to be visible and so if you have a dark hull use light lettering and if you have a light coloured hull use light lettering.
Your ‘Small Ships Registry Number’ will be supplied on an application layer so it is easy to apply yourself using the Application instructions supplied.
